Oatmeal Container Painting

Today we made paintings inside of oatmeal containers! We started out with some dried beans and several colors of paint. We stirred the beans into the paint cups until they were nicely coated.

Then we poured the beans into the oatmeal containers, which were lined with paper.

We taped up the lids, and went to town shaking!

Drumming...

Rolling...

Do you hear the beans in there?

These paintings are going to be great!

Taking off the tape...

The big reveal!

Gorgeous!

Water Cubes

Today we played with water cubes! They are squishy little guys that we grew from hard square beads. The end result is kind of like jello.

Testing the waters...

starting to transfer...

strategically filling holes...

working together...

moving from the pans to the small tins, the large tins, and back...

we tried making towers, but the cubes were so slippery...

a two block tower was possible with the help of the muffin tins...

realizing how bouncy they are...

Beans and Snow

Today we played with beans in a sensory table! The kids had so much fun with this today, they played with it for over an hour straight!

First they spent time stirring and filling/dumping cups...

Gus likes to transfer objects, so I gave him some extra containers to move the beans back and forth...

"Oh hey, you have the camera out!"

All of the kids worked together to fill the big tub...

We separated the colors...

and made a giant castle...

The weather was so nice this morning! Sunshine and no wind was a nice change from the 50mph gusts we've grown accustomed to!

Snow mowing appears to be a team sport...

It was fun to play in the snow house...

and just spend time in the sun!
